FRESHWEALTH HQ · EDITORIAL STANDARDS
Editorial Standards & Methodology
How we research, write, fact-check, and update every article on FreshWealth HQ.
Every claim must be traceable to an authoritative primary source.
FreshWealth publishes personal finance content for U.S. readers. This page explains how we research, write, fact-check, and update our content — and the standards we do not compromise under any circumstances.
On This Page
1. Our Mission and Audience
FreshWealth is an independent personal finance publication focused on evidence-based decision-making.
We write for U.S. readers making real financial decisions — including budgeting, saving, investing, debt management, credit, and retirement planning.
Most personal finance content online falls into one of two categories:
- Oversimplified clickbait — advice without supporting data
- Industry-influenced content — shaped by financial product incentives
We take a different approach:
We publish data-driven financial content grounded in primary sources — not opinions, summaries, or marketing narratives.
We do not aim to motivate.
We aim to provide accurate, verifiable financial information that readers can rely on.
2. Editorial Principles
Every article follows four non-negotiable principles:
Primary sources only
We rely on official institutions such as the Federal Reserve, IRS, SSA, and BLS.
We do not rely on:
- aggregated blog data
- secondary summaries
- unattributed statistics
If a claim cannot be verified at the source level, it is excluded.
Verifiability over authority
We do not ask readers to trust us. We provide direct access to the underlying data wherever possible.
Credibility comes from transparency — not branding or credentials.
Accuracy over optimism
We present financial realities as they are.
If data shows structural gaps — such as retirement savings shortfalls — we report them clearly, without framing bias or motivational spin.
Editorial independence
FreshWealth operates independently of advertisers, sponsors, and financial institutions. Editorial decisions are made without commercial influence.
We do not accept compensation in exchange for:
- coverage
- product placement
- favorable positioning
3. Primary Sources We Use
Our content is based on data from the following institutions:
We also reference institutional research from:
- Fidelity Investments
- Vanguard
- T. Rowe Price
When using institutional data, we cite original reports — not third-party interpretations or summaries.
4. Our Editorial Process
Every article follows a structured workflow:
Research
We define the question and collect data directly from primary sources. Where multiple datasets exist, figures are cross-checked for consistency.
Drafting
Content is written with explicit attribution for every statistic. We prioritize clarity and precision over jargon.
Fact-checking
Each number, rule, and claim is verified against original publications. If a figure cannot be verified, it is removed.
Review
Each article goes through a review for:
- factual accuracy
- clarity and readability
- neutrality and bias
- risk transparency
Publication
Each article includes:
- “Last updated” date
- fact-check status
- full list of sources
Ongoing review
Content is updated when:
- IRS releases new limits (annual)
- Federal Reserve publishes new SCF data
- SSA updates benefit data
- regulatory or legislative changes occur
- errors are identified
5. Updates and Corrections
Regular updates
Personal finance information changes frequently. We update content based on:
- annual IRS updates (tax brackets, contribution limits)
- SSA benefit adjustments
- Federal Reserve SCF releases (every 3 years)
- regulatory changes
Corrections policy
If a factual error is identified:
- it is corrected promptly
- material corrections are disclosed at the bottom of the article
- we do not silently edit content to conceal errors
Readers can report issues directly to our editorial team.

FreshWealth is independently operated. Editorial decisions are made without influence from advertisers, sponsors, or partners.
